Keynote Speaker
Dr.Catherine Finnegan is Director of Assessment and Public Information for
Advanced Learning Technologies in the Office of Information and
Instructional Technology at the Board of Regents of the University System
of Georgia. She has responsibility for collecting, analyzing and
disseminating data on the systemwide impact of information and
instructional technology for the University System of Georgia (USG). She
coordinates evaluations and assessments for fully online programs. She
partners with researchers and graduate students in the USG to
investigate the effectiveness of integration of technology in
instruction, and has coordinated development of benchmarking reporting
structures for information technology. Prior to joining the USG, Dr.
Finnegan served as the Director of Institutional Research and Planning at
North Georgia College & State University. She earned her doctoral degree
in higher education administration from the University of Georgia where
she now serves as a Senior Fellow in the Institute of Higher Education.
Here’s a description of Dr. Finnegan’s keynote presentation:
Millennial students and faculty are adapting and customizing Web 2.0
technologies to enhance learning and communicate more effectively. This
session will discuss popular Web 2.0 technologies from an IR
perspective, including unique opportunities to engage in deep research
on teaching and learning and improving communication and collaboration
within and across IR offices. Tips for evaluating new technologies will
be considered.
